The 1940’s era Quonset hut warehouse building that now serves as headquarters for Red Velvet Events was first constructed as an airfield maintenance shed. Over ensuing decades, the structure subsequently housed an auto repair shop and discount furniture store, among other things, before sitting vacant for several years.
Before being completely adapted and remodeled, the building was windowless, with dropped ceilings and an unsightly brick façade along its street facing elevation. Leap!Structures performed structural engineering services to analyze, retrofit, and reinforce the existing structure for conversion to a modern creative office building, allowing the architect to completely open the building to daylight with storefront windows and skylights. The project was recognized by the Texas Society of Architects with a 2020 Design Award.
